Swarms of tiny satellites could act like one giant space telescope

The James Webb Space Telescope will not be long before its launch, a huge and complex technical feat, but all in one. This is a good thing at the moment, but new research suggests that in the near future giant telescopes like the Webb could be replaced (or at least augmented) by swarms of tiny spacecraft working together. One of the advances made by Ben Gurion University in Israel is a jump in the capabilities of what is called Synthetic Opening Systems.
